Muktinath, situated at an altitude of 3710m at the base of Kathang Kang falls in Baarha Gaun region in Mustang district. It is a gateway to Mustang from Manang in famous Annapurna Circuit Trek. Named after the famous Muktinath shrine, the valley is religiously popular in Nepal among both Hindus and Buddhists. The Hindus call the place Mukti Kshetra, which literally means the "place of salvation". Buddhists call it Chumig Gyatsa, which in Tibetan means 'Hundred Waters'.
